When we say we want something, do we actually mean we want it? Or are we actually saying we think it should be handed to us on a silver platter, that it should be given to us as a right of our existence? Are we willing to do the work involved to get what we think we want? Because if we aren’t willing to put in the time and wade through all the yuckiness, then it’s probably a whole lot kinder if we stop pretending we want the thing and be clear that we feel we are entitled and therefore do not have to work for it. Honesty with self is the best policy. Anything else is self-deception and choosing suffering.
